Julian Owens is one of the original partners of LIFE 20/20, and currently, Managing Partner. Concurrently, is Founder/Executive Director of Here’s 2 Life! Also affectionately known as Dr. Juju, Dr. Owens combines his background in applied psychology and adolescent mental health with his talents as a singer/songwriter. Julian completed his post-doctoral training at the Bloomberg School of Public Health, Departments of Mental Health and Population, Family and Reproductive Health, while holding joint appointments in the Center for Adolescent Health, and Center for Youth Violence Prevention. Dr. Owens’ research has been published in the following peer-reviewed journals: Journal of Education and Social Policy; Journal of Health Education Research and Development; Journal of Community Medicine and Health Education; Journal on Service Learning in Higher Education; and Journal of Trauma and Treatment. Additionally, his work has been recognized by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) as innovative use of music and media to improve metal health outcomes linked to anxiety, depression, mindfulness, stress, and substance abuse, as well as treatment and management of behavioral and conduct disorders, substance misuse, HIV/AIDS, and other STDs. Dr. Owens served as an Analyst in the Domestic Social Policy Division of the Congressional Research Service (CRS) during the Clinton Administration, and an expert in the Division of Specialized Information Services (now known as the Division of Community Engagement and Training) at NIH/National Library of Medicine), during the George H. Bush Administration. Dr. Owens has also served as Senior Consultant at Accenture in the Health and Financial Services Industry on engagements in the Middle East.
