Social Studies Indicators/Outcomes by Grade

LEVEL 1+ 

  •  Determine the central ideas or information [i.e., main idea, theme, or message] of a primary or secondary source.


LEVEL 2+

  1. Cite specific textual evidence to support analysis of primary and secondary sources, attending to such features as the date and origin of the information.

  2. Assess the extent to which the reasoning and evidence in the text support the author’s claim.

LEVEL 3 & 4 [Grade 10, 11, & 12]

Participants will be able to:

  1. Discuss the power and potential of the arts to shape, shift, or change attitudes, beliefs, choices, and perceptions about social problems, paying attention to the intersectionality of race, class, gender, and sexual orientation.

  2. Provide an accurate summary of how key events or ideas develop over the course of time and over the course of specific texts.

  3. Draw conclusions based on analyses of text supporting inferences that inform social awareness, personal responsibility, and social justice as it relates to race, class, gender, and sexual orientation.
